With the ongoing changes in society and technology š±, people have become increasingly ābored.ā And I am a victim of this too! Almost daily, I find myself aimlessly scrolling through social media or binge-watching a Netflix special šŗ. So how do we combat that boredom?
Try something new! Wether itās a change in scenery, a different drink at Dutch Brothers āļøor a new hobby, shaking things up can have a profound influence on our mood. Here are 10 things we can all do to combat boredom:
1. Remember those New Years Resolutions we made in January? Ah yes, let's dust off those old relics and begin prioritizing them in our daily lives. Wether it is health and fitness oriented or something in your professional life, no goal is too small!
2. I know I am especially guilty of buying books and never reading them. Do you do this too? Find a book that brings you joy (as Marie Kondo would say), grab a comfy blanket, pour a nice glass of coffee/tea/water, find a nice place to sit and START READING!
3. Clean, clean, clean. Have you seen underneath or behind your refrigerator lately? Or how much hair might be hiding in your shower drain? Now is the time to clean the parts of our homes that are often neglected. It's about time I clean my washing machine and all the filters in the house.
4. Get creative! Wether it is scrapbooking, Shutterfly prints, or a family album online, the process of revisiting old photos/memories can be extremely grounding. Find an old vacation, adventure, athletic event, or get together that you are fond of and turn it into a photo album.
5. The Corona-15 is no joke. Life is much more stagnant right now with the Stay-At-Home order in place and even I am finding myself slip into bad eating habits. It is the perfect time to take control of our health and fitness in whatever way works best. Let's break a sweat!
6. Spring has sprung and it is the best time of the year to start a garden. It can be as simple as some herbs for cooking or a small planter of strawberries to snack on. This year I invested in some pinot grapes so that I can start making my own wine!
7. Did you know that Ivy League universities are offering free classes right now? Yeah, I swear I'm not making this up. You can attend classes ranging in subjects from art history to the psychology of addiction. Start a class and learn something new!
8. There are thousands of apps right at the tips of our fingers that can actually help us meditate or practice mindfulness. With mass hysteria spreading and anxiety at a high, it is of the utmost importance that we nurture our mental health. Let's start now! Take ten deep breaths, ten seconds in, ten seconds out. Zen.
9. Sooooo, it's about time we talk about all those clothes that you have in your closet that you never wear. And I know, I know, you just haven't had the "right place to wear them" or "you just don't fit into them now." But here's the tea, if you do not currently wear those clothes, you probably never will. DONATION TIME!
10. This one might be my personal favorite right now because it's a "twofer." You know how we all have those friends that we say we will reconnect with but never do? Well nows the time to Facetime them and actually hang out, but with a twist! Crack open those thousands of recipes you have pinned on Pinterest and have a dinner party with your friends over Facetime. I promise, you will talk about it for years to come!
